CHOSEN PATH OR A DESTINY
THE CLASSROOM DISCUSSIONS
The intention of today class was is how to define research problems and how to relate to literature reviews. With regards to this, I have to choose a research problem which relates to my fields, which are language and psychology. Researches are all about. WHAT to be research, WHY need to do research and HOW to analyze data. Whatever we learn in this course, cannot tell what we should do, but give principles to make good research proposals.
We also discussed about literature reviews and why it is important. Prof Izham asked us to focus on recent literature so that our research will be an up to date research. We have two groups of courses in our class. One is Education Leadership group and one is TESL group which is our group. Prof Izham said that we ought to choose fields of research which is related to us. TESL group has to do something with ESL and leadership is to focused on education management or leadership.

We also discuss about literature reviews and he mentioned that we need to do a lot and lots of readings which related to our chosen field of research and we also need to be meticulous, so that, it will up to the standard of a master degree students.
FROM THEORY TO APPLICATION
So, setting a realistic goal would be my first intention, and I need to do something which is related to ESL and psychology. From experiences, terms used in psychology are difficult to understand and hopefully I can get through this course at my advantage. By looking at the class discussion, I need to use it to reformulate my advantages as a psychology undergrads student and as defence teacher of ESL. In sum, my research would be whatever I get from TESL Practices of Prof Faizah and Psychosocial Practices of Prof K, and all of this will be related back to my teaching practices as TESL defence teacher.
Now, I realized that psychology as a first degree and combined with TESL as a masters degree can be a unique combination, as long as, it has something to do with language that is ESL and psychology which may refers to behaviors and cognition studies. To conclude, that will be my main focus of my study here in Faculty of Education of UITM Shah Alam for the next one and half year.
